Treasure Trove No. 13
Bias cut satin, sumptuous wool, and kooky intarsia knit.
I come to your inboxes this Sunday evening, sipping candy cane tea, as the wind whips the temperature down to the teens outside my window. Though I spent the first part of the month getting loads of hand washed vintage laundry done before the temperatures dipped too low for me to do my washing outside, I managed to get some last minute sourcing in. Today’s letter finds you with these final offerings before the big holiday!
The last day to order from the shop and have your package (hopefully) arrive before Christmas is Tuesday, December 16th. For those able to visit locally, you can shop our booth in Atomic every day right up to Christmas Eve.
Now let’s see what treasures time has left us,
<3 Kari
Treasure Trove is a weekly catalogue featuring freshly unearthed vintage offered through the Passage Keeper shop. Items previewed are available online and in person at my booth.
1950s Melton Wool Cadet Coat with Split Hood - Melton wool, a thick densely woven woolen, is most commonly seen in vintage military and workwear garments. Boasting anti-fraying properties, providing extreme warmth, as well as being water wicking and wind resistant it is an all around high quality weatherproof fabric.
1980s Blue Wool Cheerleader Varsity Jacket - While checking the pockets for any surprises, I stumbled on the original owners name, Christy Liggett, embroidered in cursive into the the inner seam of the pocket.
1980s does 1940s Brown Tweed Coat - A slinky and sexy as a wool coat can be. This 1980s tweed coat strongly references the 1940s, with it’s masculine broad padded shoulders and belts, slouching over the wrists and lower back.
1990s Pink Hand Knit Chunky Wool Sweater - Super soft with a large turtleneck! I loved the texture it provides.
1960s Horse Rider and Snowflake Intarsia Sweater - Alien like figures on horseback and snowflakes grace this knit from the late 1960s label “Male Duds”.
1990s J Crew Shaggy Black Wool Cardigan with Leather Buttons - Perfection in shaggy wool with oxblood leather buttons!
1970s Lace Up Quilted Knee High Sneaker Boots - Adidas who? Dig these quilted wedge sneaker boots with suede accents complete with their original brown laces.
1940s Japanese Haori Black Silk Jacket - Believed to have originated in the 16th century, Haori were exclusively donned by men until the 1800s, when geishas brought them into fashion for women.
1990s does 1930s Black Liquid Satin Bias Cut Dress - Much like the tweed coat seen previously, this is another wonderful design that harkens back to the 1930s, where luxurious liquid satin cut on the bias was the epitome of cool.
1940s Red Cotton Tiered Circle Skirt - My favorite decade for a skirt, this 1940s number was handmade and has all the charm you could ask for in a vintage garment - imperfections, fading, and the kind of wear that only comes from being so well loved by it’s previous owner.
1950s Red Wool Coat with Gold Buttons - The 1950s was the heyday for a large bold button, and this candy apple red number is no exception!
1990s Black Cashmere Coat - A luxe classic in soft cashmere.
1940s WWII Navy Wool Deck Sweater - The humble deck sweater, slender in it’s cut, was designed to be worn under the deck coat, peacoat, and other winter issue military garments for the WWII solider. And, as I say with every military item I feature in these letters, copied by modern designers again and again!
1990s Brown Leather Grommet Belt Custom Made - Not your average Hot Topic grommet belt, this custom made sucker is fancy! Still with it’s original price tag of $125.

I snickered at “Male Duds”! Those long 80s coats were highly desirable, c. 1989 - I had a chocolate brown wool coat very similar to that tweed one. I felt like a movie star in it!
Gorgeous selection, Kari! 💕
